OVERVIEW
The Worship Leader is responsible for leading the congregation into a real encounter
with God by planning and leading the musical aspects of our worship services as well as
leading the worship band as an administrator of schedules, skills coach, and spiritual
mentor.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Is intentionally drawing closer to Christ.
- Working knowledge of Christian music.
- Able to recruit, develop and integrate various worship team members, coming from
varying musical backgrounds.
- A gifted and experienced instrumentalist and singer. (The ability to play a rhythm instrument
such as guitar or piano is required.)
- The ability to develop and administer an annual budget for the worship ministry.
- Must be able to organize, communicate with, and schedule a team.
- Passes our background check for working with children and youth.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plan weekly worship services.
- Host weekly band rehearsals.
- Equip band members with resources for practicing at home.
- Regularly start new relationships with and recruit musicians from both the
congregation and the community.
- Develop and maintain a system for integrating and training new band members.
- Develop and maintain a system to help existing band members grow as musicians.
- Maintain a schedule for band volunteers at least 1 month in advance.
- Work collaboratively with the Ministry Leaders, Staff, and BOA.
- Plan and participate in special worship services such as Christmas eve or Ash
Wednesday. (This does not include weddings, funerals, or conference events as these would be considered
outside the scope of this position’s responsibilities.)

EXPECTATIONS
- Part-Time: Work 10 hours per week
- 4 Sundays off per year (Responsible for planning the music choices, scheduling team members, and
finding leadership coverage for off weeks in advance)
- Report directly to the Lead Pastor
- Attend all Ministry Leader Meetings. (2-hrs one Sunday per month plus special events)
- Maintain a positive attitude and respect for others
- A team player with a willingness to serve and a humble and teachable spirit
- Set a Christ-like example for Valley Chapel and the community
- Agree and live in harmony with the Book of Discipline of the Free Methodist
Church and the guiding statements of Valley Chapel FMC.
